Question : Problem: Hardware: what type of hard drive do I have

Hello,

I recently had to move my wife from her old Mac Centris 660AV computer to a new Windows Vista laptop (I know, but there was really no choice).

Anyway, I have absolutely no cable that I can use to connect the old Mac to the new laptop so i borrowed a 3.5" Hard Drive external enclosure with USB from the office.  It requires a 3.5" IDE or S-ATA hard drive.

Well, the old hard drive is a Quantum 3.5" hard drive - 1 GB.  It doesn't say IDE or ATA or anything else and I sure can't remember what it is.

In the end the hard drive enclosure I am using has a narrower cable plug.  The power plug is OK (white-4 pronged) but the strap cable is about 4 sets of pins narrower.  I'm trying right now to plug the hard drive in so that the cable is centered but I don't think it's going to work.

Any ideas or suggestions out there?

Thanks, Jerry
