Question : Problem: cant change the size of pagefile/virtual memory

Hello  this is probably an easy one for you guys but its driving me crazy    i'm working on a friends computer trying to speed it up  ran hijack this,spybot,adaware,combo fix,o&o defrag,panda anti virus,avg anti virus,added ram and now im trying to raise the pagefile size and it won't go higher. it stays at 574mb  and wont raise when i set it higher.      it did raise in safe mode but i rebooted back to normal and it went back to 574   plus its still slow as hell   any help would be appreciated

Check to see if your new RAM is seated tight and that the computer is recognizing it as 512 MB.  Most computer manufacturers suggest you add RAM in pairs.  Rather than take an old 256 chip and add a new one, you should have 2 new 256 chips or 1-512 chip and remove the 256 old chip.
