Question : Problem: Sound driver problem

I had Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. My sound worked perfect, never had any problems with iTunes or Windows Media Player. Then I try to install a second operating system on my compiuter, linux. I accidentally wiped out XP while doing this. I don't have any restore CDs or partition. On Linux, the sound worked just fine too. Then I finally find Windows XP Professional that my mom tried to use to upgrade a Windows 98 system with. The installation seemed to work perfectly, other than the fact that now that I've installed Proffessional, I don't have any sound. I hear beeps from the tower, but nothing comes out of the speakers.

Please, don't act like the tech-support fucktards, my speakers ARE plugged in. I've had tech-support ask me the stupidest questions "Are your speakers plugged in?" Then I say, "No shit, I'm not a dumbass"
