Question : Problem: Send PC sounds to Speaker out and Stereo Sounds (like Itunes) to Line Out

I have a client with a stereo setup at his office and MP3s, etc stored on his PC. He also has a Dell montior with built-in speakers. His goal: Send all music output to the line out jack on the built-in soundcard of his Dell Precision PC to ONLY his stereo, and all the PC sounds (windows events, etc) to ONLY the monitor speakers.  

Put another way, a song would play through the line out jack (and thus only come out his stereo speakers) and a windows sound (email alert, etc) would only play through only the monitor speakers.

Can tihs be done? Or does he need 2 sound cards? A special sound card?

imho it is not possible with 1 sound card, since you can only select 1 device to play sounds and audio.
maybe with 2 cards, but i never tested it.
