Question : Problem: Trying to re-install the driver for a  multi-media audio controller but getting Access Denied message

I am trying to re-install the driver for a  multi-media audio controller because the device stopped working. I am using Windows XP / Service Pack 2 on an HP Pavilion desktop but am getting the message Access Denied.  I am logged on as administrator. I have tried a number of suggestions on this website for similar problems but nothing's worked!

 Have you tried installing the driver from the SAFE MODE, turn your comp on and then start tapping F8 key and get into SAFE MODE with the ADMINISTRATOR's login and then try installing the drivers and see if that works,

Also along with the access denied message is there any other message, path , error number etc, type all the details in and will take up further on from there.
