Question : Problem: Extra LCD monitor will not display native resolution when connected with laptop as extra screen.

Hello,

I have an IBM Thinkpad T40 with a 15" LCD screen, I have this plugged into a docking station and from this station a DVI lead runs to a Samsung Pebbel 22" LCD monitor.

The Samsung LCD extends my desktop.

However, the laptop will not output the native resolution of the LCD screen, why is this? The graphics card in the laptop is an Mobility Radeon 7500

What do you think the cause if this is? Can it be solved?

Thanks in advance.

Answer : Problem: Extra LCD monitor will not display native resolution when connected with laptop as extra screen.

The T40 does not come with widescreen drivers; you need a 1680x1050 resolution.  If the monitor didn't come with a CD with the monitor driver (not video card driver), you will need a tool like PowerStrip http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm to set up a custom resolution.
