Question : Problem: Monitor Blank Screen
I sent my flat screen monitor back to the manufacturer and borrowed a CRT. All the boot up lines show up on the monitor up to the Win XP logo then when Windows actually starts up the screen goes blank, but Windows continues to boot. I can remote into it from my laptop so I know that Windows is running. Ive disabled the Display Adapters and rebooted but to no avail. In Settings the screen resolution wont go below 768x1024, for the color quality you can only choose 16-bit, and the advance button is grayed out, if thats any help to you. Also, the screen goes blank even when it boots into safe mode.
I just recently installed a new video card and the same blank screen happened until I installed the right drivers for the card.
The problem occurs with both the new video card and the onboard video.
Do you have any ideas?
Answer : Problem: Monitor Blank Screen
This has all the symptoms of a wrong resolution or out of range refresh rate. Delete the video card driver in safe mode and let it come up with the default Windows resolution, then install the video driver again.
