Question : Problem: Acer Built-In Webcam Not Working

Acer Aspire 5680 running Vista Premium with SP1 built-in webcam not working since SP1 installed.
Tried many different things to get built-in Orbicam to work, all unsuccessfully. There are three different
possible manufacturers webcam that could be installed in the Acer, and I tried all three drivers and
utilities and none of them worked. So I gave up and went out
purchase a Logitech Quickcam Pro for Notebooks, and that does not work either. When I disable
the built-in webcam via device manager, it reinstalls the software automatically when I reboot.
When I try Logitech Quickcam on another laptop running Vista Premium with SP1 and no built-in
webcam it works just fine. So my theory is that somehow there is a conflict between the internal
webcam and the Logitech external.

Answer : Problem: Acer Built-In Webcam Not Working

Yes, because the driver existed before the SP1 upgrade in your previous scenario.

To find the manufacturer of the hardware you are going to have to go:

Start -> Right Click on Computer  -> Choose Manage -> Click on Device Manager

Find the device in question (webcam) or it may show up as an unrecognized device, Right Click on it and choose Properties.

Go to the Details tab and choose Hardware ID from the drop down. Post what numbers you see there.
