Question : Problem: Swapping a SIM Card from one Blackberry model to another
|
|
A user on our company BES Server was having a problem with his Blackberry powering off and then back on. The suggestion from Cingular was to swap the SIM card in to another Blackberry (a Cingular 720). This has been completed and the Blackberry has been powered back on. What additional steps need to be taken to ensure that the user will be able to send and receive emails through our company BES Server?

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP BEFORE PROCEEDING
Download the latest BB Desktop Manager (BBDM v4.2 SP2) and the latest handheld OS from AT&T/Cingulars site [http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp] then install that software. Once done, download the BlackBerry MDS studio, contained within there is an app in (if I remember correctly) \bin called javaloader.exe. Attach the BB to the PC, open up a cmd (start > run > cmd) browse to the javaloader.exe location (or just copy it to your c:\) then perform the following:
Javaloder u wipe
This will completely wipe the OS from the handheld. Once this is done the BB will restart and come up with an error on the screen. Disconnect the BB and open the BBDM v4.2SP2 that you just installed before WITH the latest handheld OS. When you connect the BB with BBDM open you will be prompted to reinstall the OS. Say yes, sit back & relax because itsgoing to take a little bit (~ 30min).
Let me know how it works out.
