Question : Problem: How to Upsize a RAID 5 Array

I am running a Dell SC1420SC Server. It is running Windows 2003 Standard. It has 3 U320 Seagate 36GB drives in a RAID 5 on a Dell PERC320. I would like to upgrade the drives to a larger size due to lack of space. Is there a method of ghosting an entire array? What would be the best way to upgrade the array without having to reload the machine?

Here's the thing - You are going to expand this one way or another, right?  FOR DATA - NOT for the C: drive, right?  Again, are you running out of space on the C: drive?

If you're going to do this one way or another, get the drives in place slowly, by swapping them out, and then the controller/Dell Open Manage Array Manager software should let you extend the container size.

Once extended, you can TRY diskpart.  IF it doesn't work, THEN you can spend the money on an expensive partitioning tool (for servers).
