Question : Problem: Need to replace power supply but can not seem to find 300 W in local stores, can I use something else?

Hello,

I have a computer with out a manual (don't seem to be able to find the manual online) the power supply went and I need to replace it ASAP.  The broken one is a SPI Sparkle Power Int, Switching Power Supply. Model NO. ATX-300GT, AC Input: 115/230V~, 10/5A, 60/50Hz,  DC OUTPUT: 300W

I really want to buy a replacement tonight but it looks like I can only find a 350 W... what is there that I have to look for when I replace a power supply?

Thanks

Lani

If you want to get technical, there is a good power supply calculator here:

As stated you can use a PSU with more than 300W.

My recommendation, just pull your old PSU and take it with you to whatever PC shop you're purchasing a new PSU from.  Match it up with something with more wattage.  You can also verify the connectors before you leave the store.
