Question : Problem: Touchpad won't work and all setting appear OK

Hi experts,

I've got an Acer machine running XP SP2. Recently I connected a Targus remote pointing device (model AMP02EU, using a USB receiver) and it worked fine. However I've since found that the built-in Synaptics touchpad has stopped working.

If I plug in any USB mouse, it works fine. However the touchpad is still dead.

I've looked in Mouse Properties via Control Panel and it reckons it's working correctly. I've tried altering some settings and applying them; no change. I've rebooted the computer; no change. I've looked at System / Hardware / Device manager and it reckons it's working OK. I've tried to re-install the driver using the automatic procedure; no change.

Can anyone help me resolve this, please?
