Question : Problem: jump drive not recognized in hp dx2300 microtower desktop

On an HP DX2300 Microtower desktop computer running Windows XP Service Pack 2, the drivers for usb jump drives do not load automatically when the jump drive is inserted into the front or rear usb ports.  Drivers need to be loaded automatically.  Uninstalling all usb drivers, rebooting, and reinstalling usb drivers not helpful as per HP Support.  Tried flashing the bios as per HP Support not helpful.    HP Support advises that the OS needs to be reinstalled.  This is not acceptable.  HELP!
