Question : Problem: Printer memory error
|
|
I am running XP SP2, and have a HP LaserJet printer and I use Outlook 2003. When I try to print an e-mail, it prints (ironic) the following error message: "This job requires more memory than is available in this printer." Everything else (Notepad, Word, Excel, etc.) prints fine, but any e-mail, even if it's only one line, gives me the same error. I have tried unplugging the printer for a while and it doesn't help. Any other suggestions?

This error is most often found when using POSTSCRIPT and sending jobs to a laser printer. POSTSCRIPT is basically a "printer programming language" - and various microsoft products (i..e, Outlook) do a cruddy job at writing out postscript code, and as a result-- the "program job" (the print job) requests more memory than the printer has.
So... check your printer settings, and you will probably notice that it's a "PS" (postscript) driver for your printer.
My best suggestion is for you to go to HP's website, find the driver(s) for your printer, and install the *PCL* (HP's printer control language) driver for your printer instead. Unless you have to have it, postscript typically requires more resources to print the same thing PCL can do just as handily.
