Question : Problem: Dead Hard Drive and Freezing it to recover data?

Hi everyone!   I have a friend who has a bad hard drive and is trying to recover very important data from the disk.  Has anyone ever tried and succeeded at freezing the hard drive and retreiving the information from it and if so what is the proper procedure for doing this.  Thanks

Yes - Though i must stress this is a last ditch effort and when you are done the drive will be goosed anyway

Seal the drive in plastic and put it in the freezer for a few hours
when you take it out dont hang around, the longer you take the more chance of condensation forming inside the drive there is.
