Question : Problem: Catalyst 5505 functionality
|
|
I just inherited 2 x Catalyst 5505s with the Supervisor IIIG module, CatOS 6.3.5, each switch has a 24-port 10/100 module. There are no connectors for the upload ports. I pulled the Spvsr module out and it appears as though there is a module, just no connectors. Anyone familiar with this? I found a GBIC on the Cisco site for a 1000BaseSX for $400. Is this all I need?
Also, there's only 8mb of flash memory but I've found PCcard memory for the 5500 (I think) in 16mb and 32mb quantities. But I don't see anywhere on the 5505 to insert a PCMCIA type flash card. I'd like to web manage these boxes but the web management capable image is more than 8 meg. Any thoughts.
Thanks, Steve

No problem. I'm assuming right now you just have an open regtangular hole where the "uplink" port is - possibly with a metal flap that covers the hole but moves out of the way if you push your finger in. If so, you just need the Gbic and you'll be on your way.
