Answer : Problem: VPN PPTP

First thing to check is are your IP subnets conflicting?

To make a VPN work well, the local subnets of the LAN and VPN network must be distinct.  If both are using 192.168.1.xxx subnets then you will have problems.

You may need to ensure that the subnets at both ends do not use the same subnets.  Normally, that means that the corporate network (if it is corporate) will need to be changed, which is not an easy job.  For a quick test, you can change your own home subnet to (for example) 192.168.2.xxx.

If you are going to be using a VPN, then I recommend that you choose an unusual subnet so that the likelihood of a network conflict is reduced.

Can you tell me the IP subnets at both ends?
