Question : Problem: Wireless Connections limitations

I have a Cisco secured wireless 2.4 GHz network with 2 access points.  I have heard a rumor that there can only be maybe 5 clients connected at any one time.  What is the limitation of a Wireless Network in so far as how many clients can connect simultaneously?

Right now I have about 100 wireless clients connected to 2 cisco 1200 APs. The main issue is  bandwidth. Wireless can give just 54Mbps for ALL clients regardless of direction, when wire gives 100Mbps for each.
