Question : Problem: To access my PC remotely from outside

Hi guys,

i succeeded in installing real vnc on a server from work, just forwarded the port which will be used in order to accept an incoming connection and i accessed it from home with windows remote desktop connection and it worked fine.  Then i tried it on my friend's computer, did the same thing with port forwarding, switched off the firewall but still didn't work.  At work we have a static IP and use cable internet.  My friend has ADSL, could that be the problem?

For most people their dynamic ip address is actually a sticky dynamic ip address meaning your ip does not change often. I have had the same ip address for over two years now on my cable connection. You can however (and I do) use a dynamic DNS service so you can always have an address you can type and to connect to your network from anywhere online. The service I use is DynDNS (http://www.dyndns.com/ ).

I hope this helps. Good luck.
