Question : Problem: Is a TPM a good thing to have

Hi,

One quick qestion I would like to run past some one. Is a Trusted Platform Module a good thing to by my Mobo has a TPM Header and Gigabyte have said that Infinion chipsets are compatible to use but I want to know are they any good and what are the pros and cons with getting and using one.

It is a great thing to have if you can ever contemplate having your laptop stolen and then getting some emotional relief by imagining the thief's frustration when they realize they can't use the laptop or even resell it as a reusable laptop. On the other hand, if you can imagine yourself putting in a password and then foolishly forgetting it, then you have to imagine yourself as the proud owner of a completely useless piece of equipment.
