Question : Problem: Display resolution unchangeable

I recently had to move to a new location, and could not bring my 21" display with me, so I had to use a 17" display made by the same manufacturer (HP).  It's plug and play, so it worked just find.  Unfortunately, I need to change the resolution from 1280X1024 to 1024X768 for one of the applications that I use, and the settings for this display can no longer be changed.  I have tried several things, like turning off plug and play, but anything that I do seems to send the display back to 640X400, and it still cannot be changed.  I finally had to re-install an old registry file to get back to the original resolution of 1280X1024.  The message I get when trying to change the resolution is "The dislay control panel is unable to change the dislay settings. Please check your display hardware in device manager."  But the display hardware is correctly identified.

Answer : Problem: Display resolution unchangeable

I found this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q185/7/66.ASP&NoWebContent=1

I know it's not with netmeeting, but make sure nothing is open at the time you want to change the resolution.
