Got zire 72
Got windows XP on desk top running NTL broad band
Fitted blue tooth into usb port
Zire is talking to PC but i can not get web pro to connect says"Error:serial:
timeout.could be bad cable or faulty modem (o%0305)
Same for Versa mail.

Task bar is showing two blue tooth icons, one is blue and red, the other blue and white
If i click on the blue and red icon it says "blue tooth device not found"
If i click on the blue and white icon it shows my PDA
The desk top has an icon called my blue tooth places, if i click on this, nothing happens at all.
In the contol panel i have two icons, blue tooth devices and blue tooth config.

Answer : Problem: connecting a zire 72 to the internet / e mail via blue tooth

First you need to get your PC and Palm to see each other via bluetooth. Think of bluetooth just as the invisible cable that connects your Palm to your PC. You need an additional piece of software on your PC to act as a gateway to the internet, that's a PPP server such as SoftickPPP (http://palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&SID=7813326D-CF18-AC90-885077CC5BA76831&PartnerREF=&prodID=50581)
which accepts conections via bluetooth.

Once you have downloaded and installed the PPP server configure it to use bluetooth. You also need to configure your Palm, go to Preferences->Communication->Connection and create a new one:
Name: whatever you want
Connect to: PC
Via: Bluetooth

Click on details and verify the defaults:

Speed 57,600 bps
Flow Ctl: Automatic

Leave these unchanged for testing purposes.

Now go to Preferences->Communication->Network, click on new:
Service: whatever you want
User Name and Pasword can be left blank
Connection: choose from the list the name of the connection you created before

Now on the same screen click connect. It should work!
