Question : Problem: MacBook Pro - not charging to full capacity

I have a MacBook Pro and i bought the first gen when they came out in 2006, bought it in August and I got this application: http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/

When I use it, it says battery charged: 100% and then the full capacity is only 51%, I am wondering if there is  way to increase the charge? I tried calibrating last night, but I am going to give it another go tonight, see what I can do with it, hopefully that will work.

Any ideas? Or tips that I can try. On this app, it says battery connected: no, battery charging: no

But it is charging and is connected.

Thanks,

Ryan

Answer : Problem: MacBook Pro - not charging to full capacity

This what happened to me. I foolishly ignored it and then one day wham the thing started swelling so much stuff got warped. Good news is though that there is another extended warranty on these batteries. Here are the criteria: identifying an affected battery

Affected batteries will have one or more of the following symptoms:

Battery is not recognized causing an X to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.
Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.
Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
Battery pack is visibly deformed.

Well for me, my ignoring it worked out as visibly deformed got me a new one on the spot.
Yours may meet this one already: Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
