Question : Problem: tv out from ibook g4 is black and white ? help!

my friend has an ibook g4 and purchased a mac video out converter (mini vga to composite)  we plugged it into his screen and we get a display, but no matter what options we choose we cannot get any color.  We are in the uk so we used pal 50hz, his tv can view american stuff so we even tried ntsc. and we tried reducing the colour resolution.

First of all, does the iBook detect the TV when connected (check preferences, screen). Do you see the tv as an additional screen? Also check on the TV side if the correct AV channel is selected in order to match the composite input source. If OK then check if settings in prefs for TV are correct. Possible you will need to play with settings on both sides. I recall from my old PB G4 i had test all possibilities for the best result and also play with color settings on the prefs.
