Question : Problem: ntbackup and symantec backup sees two tapes drives;device manger one

Symantec 10 and SONY AIT 20g drive worked OK, replace with SONY AIT 80g and Symantec 12. Device manager sees only one tape drive, but when loading drivers via SYmantec, two drives are found, both SONY AIT. The same is shown by NTBackup ( AIT and AIT1). It would seem that since both Symantec and NTBackup see two that it must be a hardware issue, but only one is shown in device manager.
OH, and neither backup software can write to the drive, both complain of no media.

Did you upgarde from 10 to 12 or perform a fresh install

I think that its still seeing the old drive

Remove evrything (from the devices in BE and Dev Manager), reboot, rescan and see if you get one drive

Also make sure BE has a Live Update run as there are quite a few patches from the original build
