Question : Problem: Blackberry - BES or BWC

Hi

We have 10 new Blackberry devices from Verizon and wanted to know the advantages about setting up a Blackberry Professional Server for our exchange environment vs using the web client to connect to OWA? - I hear with Verizon one can sync mail, contacts and calendar by setting up the web client to connect to OWA. Why then would I need to invest in setting up and buying licenses for BES?

Thank you.

Answer : Problem: Blackberry - BES or BWC

If you are using Exchange 2007 then RIM doesn't have a connector to OWA, you wind up having to use POP3 which really is not too great, as it doesn't sync addresses books, calender , appointments, tasks, etc, and when it sends the message to the BB handheld, it also marks it as read in your outlook mailbox, which irritated a lot of our users. We have T-Mobile with BES, and a few AT&T without BES.

Until we got exchange 2007 the OWA seemed pretty good on the AT&T BBs.

The only other thing is when the users change their windows/outlook password you will have to log into the RIM website and change it there manually for them to get email again.
