Question : Problem: HP nx9500 cannot find wireless networks
I have an HP Compaq nx9500 laptop with a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN wireless card. The computer cannot find a wireless network. I know there is a public access wireless network in the building I work in but this computer is unable to find any wireless networks. There is a Wireless Network Connection in the Network Connections but it shows it is "Not connected". When I "View available wireless networks" the computer returns "No wireless networks were found in range". I know there is a wireless network in range but this computer is not connecting to it. I have run the troubleshoot function for the wireless card on the computer but it states the device is working properly.
Can someone give me some insight on what to look for and why this computer cannot find the wireless network?

Make sure the Wireless NIC is switched on. Some PC's have a physical switch somewhere on the case while others use a function key or key combination for that.
