Question : Problem: Epson GT7000 under Win2000

I can't have the Epson GT-7000 Photo working under Win2k Pro. All is new (clean installation): OS, Photoshop 7 / Epson Scan II and scanner drivers.

That's what I made (and tested):

Clean install of Win 2k Pro.
When finishing configuration, system detects and names correctly the GT-700 scanner, then it asks for drivers. The correct one is named ESCANFB.INF and is under the Windows2000 folder in the original CD. All ends in a correct manner and the scanner is visible in Control Panel.

TWAIN interface. I can install the Epson Twain 3 that comes in CD, and it's on the Installed Programs List.

Now the problem: I open Photoshop 7 and go to Import. It appears Epson Twain 3. I choose it, but two error messages come in: first has the caption of Epson Twain 3 and says "Scanner not ready. Check if it's on". When I close this dialog box, second one opens with Twain_32 caption telling that "The scanner software doesn't support in memory transfers".

I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and TWAIN, deleted the device from OS and let it to find it again, downloaded latest drivers from Epson (TWAIN 3.4),... Nothing has worked.

I have installed its own scanning software, Epson Scan II. Same messages.

I have checked the SCSI interface in the OS: all seems correct. It's a SCSI-2, terminated chain and assigned ID. No conflicts as it's the only device in the chain. Cable seems to be correctly plugged. Even I've changed the cable between the 2 connectors in the rear of scanner. Nothing.

I don't know what more can I do, so here I am. Help!!!

And sorry about my English: I'm Spanish, from Barcelona, Spain, European Community.

Answer : Problem: Epson GT7000 under Win2000

I had exactly the same problem with my GT-7000 scanner. Everything seemed ok with my scsi-card and scanner in the device manager.

What I did to solve the problem:
Uninstall TWAIN (maybe that's not necessary). Download the newest driver from www.epson.at (www.epson.com will work also I think) called gt7000g.exe. Execute (unzip) the file. Now you should have a subdir called win2000. Go to the device manager and select the scanner. Click update driver and select search for a driver. Select the ESCANFB.INF that's in the win2000 dir. Start the update. After a while you will be ask for the location of icmrt20a.dll. Select the file ESCANFB.CAB file in the win2000 dir. This should do the job.

Hope this helps and sorry about my english. I'm Austrian. ;)
