Question : Problem: Two Print Queues Printing to the Same Printer...Conflict?
|
|
Hi,
We are running Windows 2003 Active Server with 3 shared print queues on the PDC...all HP4200DTNs.
We use ZetaFax for a fax server. Because Zetafax seems to be picky about the current HP print driver their support suggested that we create a second print queue that prints to the HP4200 but using an older driver like the Laserjet4.
We did this. Now we have two print queues printing to the SAME printer via TCP/IP port. My question is whether the printer is capable of handling print requests from separate queues or if there will be any conflicts.
Thanks, Jack

It is perfectly fine to have two printers configured, and pointed at the same IP address. You could quite happily have all the computers individually configured with their own printer, all pointing to that IP. No problems at all! Only reason you wouldnt want that is ease of management, of print queues and ip address/driver changes.
