Question : Problem: backup config

Hi All,

Im running backup exec 11d
We have 10 tapes for each weekdays for to weeks ( monday01-friday01 and monday02-friday02)
than we have 12 tapes for each month.

i was running full backup for 2 weeks thn i changed it to Differential - using archive bit

today i was trying to restore a folder but the tape has only changed files so i dont have all the files.

what settings would you reccommend so each tape has a full backup. ( but i dont want to run full backup everyday as it takes ages. - i want backup exec to replace changed files only)

no.. media sets define your tapes and drives/ overwrite settings etc..

BackupExec differential jobs are defined as having changed based on one of two methods, (your choice set in the job properties), either by the archive bit or by the time/date stamp of the file. (use archive bit its easier)

Under the Back Job properties, you'd change your backup method from 'Full - reset archive bit' to 'differential - changed files'
