Question : Problem: How do I reset my Thinkpad T42 Rescue and Recovery password?

I have a file that cannot be deleted or accessed on my C: drive.  In trying to boot into safe mode, I am confronted with a dialog box asking for a Rescue and Recovery password.  I bought the TP used, so I do not know the password.

My first thought is the Rescue and Recovery password is not required for Safe Mode.  Are you pressing F8 and specifically selecting Safe Mode?

You can download Spybot and along with that program will come a shredder that will delete that file.
