Question : Problem: SMS not working across VLANs
|
|
My company is in the process of implementing VLAN's. The first VLAN they implemented was in our LAB. We are trying to test application pushes with SMS. These worked fine before implementation of the VLAN. We can add a computer to the domain and we can browse to the UNC where the specified packages reside. They do not have WINS implemented. The SMS server is on their legacy VLAN. The computer's in the lab will receive the advertisement, but I receive this error when I try to run them..This Program Cannot be run because the program files are unavailable. It acts like is cannot find the UNC. The network guy wanted me to mention that they user 3COM and not Cisco.

Answer : Problem: SMS not working across VLANs

Then check with your net admins about how they have the VLANs established and there may need to be a common SMS one created. That's the nature of the VLAN to keep things separated.
Let them know that this is a problem and you will need to look at possible solutions together. Establish possible ACL's between them so your SMS will be able to connect to the servers. This is your network Infrastructure teams responsibility to resolve.
