Question : Problem: DLT Drive not recognizing cleaning tape
I am using a Quantum 1 Ultrium 3 DLT drive, internal SCSI, on a Dell PowerEdge 830. Backups are working fine using Backup Exec 10d. The old cleaning tape became exhausted so I just purchased a new one. Upon insertion the tape will sit in the drive for hours upon hours and will not eject unless an eject routine is run either via the software or a hard eject using the eject button on the face of the drive.
Cleaning cartridge is the same as the previous one, Quantum Universal Cleaning Cartridge for all Ultrium 1, 2, 3, & 4 drives.
With the tape in the drive the activity light is on continuously. The cleaning statistics do not reset.
I've tried with another cleaning tape from a sister location and have the same error. This is the only problem with the drive, but I need it fixed because the routines have slowed from 600MB/min to under 150MB/min and the routine does not have time to complete overnight.
Any hints, tips, or ideas?
(OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2)
Drive Firmware Version 1899
