Question : Problem: Mac Mini To TV DVI, HDMI, Composite, Firewire?

I am trying to connect a Mac Mini to a Sony TV.  The TV has D-Sub VGA in, HDMI, Component, and FireWire (iLink).  The Mac has a DVI out only.  I use hardware to convert from DVI to HDMI, but the Sony has no options for a parallel audio feed, so I can't get audio if I use HDMI.  Unless there's a not too expensive piece of hardware out there that can encode an analog audio signal and merge it with the HDMI video signal.  Sounds expensive, but if anyone knows of such hardware please let me know.  Barring that, l think there are DVI to composite adapters.  Anyone tried these?  Also, there's a firewire port on the back of the Mini.  Is there anyway to convince the display adapter to send a video signal out through the firewire port?

I would suggest you stick with the DVI-to-HDMI converter as the cheapest solution and pipe the audio to a boombox or stereo.  Converting analog audio to digital is expensive, as is converting digital video to analog video.
