Question : Problem: asus xp desktop computer won't shutdown

hello - i have an generic xp computer with an ASUS P5B mainboard - the problem i'm having is that it doesn't switch off - iit restarts - i've updated drivers and bios - except for this problem everything else works fine - i even disabled restart on system failure hoping that i could find an insight - any ideas?

I've got an ASUS P5LD2 mainboard and have experienced the same problem as you on 2 occasions: the first time was after installing a new case fan, I'd connected it to the power supply fan header in error. Why this would cause a problem I'll never know, but after connecting to the system fan header, the problem went away. The second time, just happened out of the blue. I fixed it by replacing the mainboard battery.
