Question : Problem: Moving Harddrives between IBM T43s (Due to a failing fan)
|
|
Hello,
I have (2) IBM THinkPads (both T43's running Win XP Pro).
Notebook No. 1 is my primary computer -- but from the sounds of things, the fan is starting to fail.
Notebook No. 2 is a relatively unused spare notebook PC that is working just fine.
Can I simply remmove the harddrive from notebook No 1 -- install it in notebook No 2 -- and press on as if nothing has changed?
I have a large assortement of programs on notebook No. 1 and I'd really rather not have to reload everything onto notebook No 2.
Is a simple harddrive swap all I need to do, and will it keep all of my current settings, or is there more to it than this, please?
Many thanks!

Thanks Kuti, Thanks phibersq,
Everything worked just as you suggested it would.
Knowing how things were supossed to work was HUGELY helpful in letting me know what I was (or wasn't) getting into before I started down this path!!!
Thanks again!
