Question : Problem: HP ScanJet 4100c Installation on Windows XP

I had the 4001c working fine with windows xp, I remember doing a whole bunch of non-intuitive setup first though and I can't remember the process.

It was working fairly smoothly, then I formatted and put in a new motherboard and CPU. Now when I put in the 4100c's drivers cd and try the setup.exe I get a "Your operating system is not supported. Please return this device" message.

I couldn't find the drivers in HP's site, just an update.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Answer : Problem: HP ScanJet 4100c Installation on Windows XP

I had the same problem with my parents HP Scanjet last week. Same thing, everything seemed fine, then one day it wasn't recognizing it. This is on Win2K.

Install disk couldn't cope with the OS. I uninstalled the older version of the PrecisionScan LT software, downloaded and installed the update and it ran fine after reboot. (NOTE: It says update, but it is the entire program.)

Let me know if this doesn't (didn't work.) Next time I'm at my parents I'll try to remember if I had to do anything else.

Good luck.
