Question : Problem: Using Universal Restore and making images while files are being backed up
|
|
We are using Acronis True Image Echo Server for Windows on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition platform. We would like to know more about Universal Restore. For instance: If our server burns to the ground can we restore its image on another machine/server with differnet specs? And if so, how easily is this done? Has anyone experienced complications doing this? Also, we would like to make images remotely. For instance: I would like to remote into the server with the Acronis True Image Echo software and start the imaging process. The image would be copying to a mapped drive on a different server in the same LAN. Can this be done? It seems like it should because most applications can be manipulated/used remotely. Also, if the files that we want to image are currently being backed up with Veritas Backup Exec version 10.0 can the image still be made properly? I know that files can be in use and still be imaged but is this somehow different? I know this is a lot but I would appreciate any and all help.
Thanks

Answer : Problem: Using Universal Restore and making images while files are being backed up

1.Universal restore was created for users who want to restore their image on machine with different hardware therefore the answer on your first question is positive. 2. True Image can backup through the network 3. If you wont run both applications at the same time I think that no problem will arise.
