Question : Problem: Bulding a DIY microcomputer.
Hello, :)
Recently I was coding a scriping system for an RPG, after digging around and finding a 1983 machine code for beginners book I desgined the language loosely around the 6502 instruction set. This got me interested in building my own z80/6502 computer with OS, monitor/LCD output and some kind of I/O, but my electrical engineering experience is limited to logic gates, truth tables and the like and even that needs a refresher.
So where would be the best place to start and end up at to achieve my goals? Could PICs be a viable alternative? What are the Pros/Cons of different approaches? etc...
Thanks for your replies.
