Question : Problem: Blu-Ray Options for Dell Precision M65?
|
|
I currently have a Dell Precision M65 Notebook computer and I was looking for a Blu-Ray optical drive that would fit my system. Dell is currently offering Blu-Ray recordable drives in their XPS series notebooks. I called Dell to see if there was a drive available for my machine and they said that they have nothing. Does anyone know a source or resource that I could investigate if I have a option to put a Blu-Ray Drive in my machine. I am looking for the drive because of the data capacity that it can hold. I take a lot of video with my Sony HDR SR1 camcorder and my computer is filling up very fast with video files. I need to rip them to disk.
My system has the following specs... Dell Precision M65 Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 Intel Core Duo T7600 2.33 Mhz Memory 2,048.00 MB
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I do not think blu-ray drives are widely available right now. You can get yourself an external hard drive enclosure and fill it with a 500GB drive for less than what the cheapest blu-ray drive costs, and swap out the drive when it fills up (I would recommend at least two copies of anything important or irreplaceable). 500GB drives cost about $100 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136178) these days, and enclosures go for about $40 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817145167).
