Question : Problem: Problem with Acer laptop w/Vista and Acer monitor X223W

I hooked up a docking station to an Acer laptop. Plugged in the external keyboard, mouse and monitor (Acer X223W). No problems until about 3 weeks, monitor and mouse quit working. They work outside the docking station just fine. So I plugged everything directly into the laptop. All worked fine for about 2 weeks. Now the laptop no longer sees the external mouse and monitor. I bought a new docking station, thinking it was the station that was the problem but now it seems not to be. The pattern is a few weeks, then the laptop refuses to see the externals. Is there some setting I'm missing? I have everything set to stay on--no hibernation. I am not very familiar with Vista but this is very strange pattern in any case.

Answer : Problem: Problem with Acer laptop w/Vista and Acer monitor X223W

I have sort of a working solution. The docking station still isn't working so I'm plugging the monitor directly into the laptop. Under Display Properties/Windows Mobility Center I clicked on Connect Display and it worked! The resolution was awful so I had to play with that. If the monitor disappears again then Iat least know where I can go to do something. When the new docking station comes in I will see how things work out.
