Question : Problem: Change XP to singe CPU
I re-installed XP on a single core machine and apparently the disk was for an OEM dual core.
How do I set XP to treat it as a single core again?
Taskman actually shows two cores at work in my single core machine.
HP system with P4 630 Prescott Single Core 3.0GHz
Thanks!
Answer : Problem: Change XP to singe CPU
I believe that processor is enabled with Hyperthreading (can be disabled in the BIOS). Thats why it sees it as two cores.....
I dont believe you need to reinstall/repair the OS by disabling it.......
Is it causing a problem?
