Question : Problem: Battery Software ?

Gateway 450rog laptop
There is no physical problem with the battery it is fine.
this is a new clean install of xp-pro sp2 from tested source there are no virus or malware
when we cold boot the laptop the first message is a lower right corner balloon of "Found new hardware.......battery" followed by an error window in middle of screen that is titled "Device Installer error" the error message is "Windows could not load the installer for battery.Contact your hardware vendor" when we click out of that upcomes the "Found new hardware wizard" It searches and then reports "cannot install the hardware..battery" NEXT we get another balloon warning that "the hardware was not installed"and the desktop comes up.
When we go to ....control panel->system>hardware>device manager. we find the first sub catagory under computer name to be "BATTERIES" with 3 yellow symbols for missing drivers just below it
We have searched the Gateway support site and talked to two Gateway support people that dont understand the problem. We have searched ths MS support site and KB and found nothing about battery drivers Thanks for any help Bob
