Question : Problem: isa setup-compaq prolina

How do you get into setup for the isa cards,NOT PCI CARDS, on a compaq prolina 4/50? The f10 key starts bios setup, but not for the isa slots. You have to setup resources like a lagacy card in windows does or the bios will not see them. I downloaded a softpaq but it does the samething. Is there a special key ? Later models use a cfg file for this.

Answer : Problem: isa setup-compaq prolina

the Compaq Bios allows you to register a ISA card in the bios...
this works for NON PNP cards , the PNP cards will be autodetected...

why do you need to register the ISA CARD if it isn't PNP , you might ask ..

wel if you tell the bios what resources are beeing used by a non pnp card , the bios will be prevented from using these resources on PNP and PCI devices...

the ISA card needs to be configured using a jumper , or dip switch on the card
some cards can be configured with a DOS utility wich is provided by the manufacturer...

matt, your comment isn't valid because that procedure is for "clone pc" Bios only
