Question : Problem: Cannot boot off of XP Cd-Rom
|
|
When I try to boot off of the CD, I get the following problem
It will say "Press any key to boot off of CD" - so I press something
then It says "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration"
Then it will black screen so I can't do anything. - I see this quite often, but I need a workaround on the problem. I will also award points to anyone who can answer how to get a chkdsk going on this computer or any computer without booting off of the Windows XP CD - (I also cannot boot into windows)

My experiences with unable to boot xp from cd-rom
- Have ur system down to barebone meaning only "mainboard, ram X 1, harddisk, cd-rom, with onboard graphics card" Remove all PCI/PCI-E cards or AGP card if your system has onboard graphics. If you have 2 pieces of ram, remove 1 piece and swap the other around if you still have black screen encountered. I ever had system unable to run or install xp or encounter error due to 2 pieces of ram on the mainboard
- Try another harddisk as there may be bad sectors or hardware error to narrow down the issue - Swap another cd-rom to test should issue persists - Use another piece of Win XP cdrom will be the last alternative
