Question : Problem: Media Set Periods / Overwrite - Append (Bi-Weekly)

Hello,

I am using Symantec Backup Exec 11d. Backing up to disk, all operating systems are Windows 2003.

The data I am backing up is 500GB. Every weekend Full backups and during the week incremental backups. For backup storage locations, I have 2 x 1TB. I would like to backup on the same location bi-weekly(once in 2 weeks) to have a redundancy.

My full backup and incremental backups all go to separate folders. So on the destination they look like below;

D:\Full\000000.bkf
D:\Incremental1\000001.bkf
D:\Incremental2\000002.bkf
D:\Incremental3\000003.bkf
D:\Incremental4\000004.bkf
D:\Incremental5\000005.bkf

So on the 1st and 3rd week of the month, I am backing up to Storage ServerA and on the 2nd and 4th week of the month to the storage ServerB. In 2 weeks, I will overwrite the data on the disk, this means I can restore back to 13 days if necessary.

Question #1 I would like to know how I can set my Media Set periods.
Media Set Periods overwrite protection - ???
Media Set Periods append period - ???

Question#2 Also on the job properties, I would like to know what to choose from
-      Destination  Device and Media - When This job begins
o      Overwrite media
o      Append the media, overwrite if no appendable media is available
o      Append the media, terminate job if no appendable media is available

Question#3 From the applications Tools Options Job Defaults - Backup
      Media Overwrite Protection
o      Overwrite media
o      Append the media, overwrite if no appendable media is available
o      Append the media, terminate job if no appendable media is available

I have tried this but it did not work, now I am manually deleting BKF files to free up space which is not the case.

Thank you,

John
