Question : Problem: I succesfully installed a second slave HD and have a question
|
|
hi, I just installed a secondary slave maxtor 120GB 7200 for extra space. I formatted it through Disk Management and noticed some differences to my primary 40GB HD.
The primary has the following status: Layout: Partition Type: Basic File System: FAT32
while the secondary is: Layout: SImple Type: Dynamic File System: NTFS
What/why do both status differ and should I worry about this at all? I'm new to this and a bit worried if this is right, thanks~

If you want to know the differences between Basic and Dynamic check this one => http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnntpro00/html/management.asp
So, to be short, if you'r running only win2k or winXP there is nothing to worry about, but you might want to convert your first partition to NTFS also. To do this: Start => Run => type "convert c: /FS:NTFS" without the quotes (you will be asked if you want to perform the conversion the next time you boot, choose yes)
