Question : Problem: EPROM programming (BIOS)
|
|
Hello,
I am considering the purchase of an affordable EPROM programming hardware/software interface. My primary application for use is to work with PC BIOSs (backup, restore etc). Can anyone suggest a good product for this? Some that I am considering are sold here:
http://www.arlabs.com/
and here:
http://mcumall.com/
I am having difficulty determining the comparability aspect of these programmers. For example I am currently interested in flashing a 32 PIN PLLC, the chip is identified as follows: AMIC A290021tl-70 0138T. The info I found here: http://www.amictechnology.com/pdf/A29002.pdf states that this is a 70ns 20ma 8bit cmos 5.0v. The Willem Enhanced version at mcumall says that it is compatible with AMIC A29F002T. Is it reasonable to assume that a part with A29002 will get along with another similarly named part from another manufacturer? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes many different part numers from different manufacturers are interchangeable. Eproms and flash parts have an id code accessed by raising the voltage on one of the pins. Most programmers can perform the auto id.
