Question : Problem: Overcloking the AMD Phenom II X4 920?

The mobo in my "daily driver" died. Although I do builds and repairs, etc. I had never used a Quad so I decided to try out AMD's Phenom II X4 920. Frankly, I was happier with my E8400 running at stock!!  It's on an ASUS board where the BIOS has a simple way to just tell it to overclock it 5%,10%, etc. I guess I'm old fashioned!  Does anyone have a precise set of overclock settings for this chip? I am running this on a relatively simple ASUS M3A78 Pro with 8 gigs of G.Skill 1066...(CL5-5-5-15 2.0-2.1v).  While I have a file full of OC notes, it would also be nice to remind me what to turn off and on in the BIOS as well as the settings. Finally, I realize OCing is not just cut and dried...different individual chips, etc. can accomplish different things. I'm looking for what others have achieved to give me a range to shoot for. Also, I'm not a gamer, I want a fast  machine...with stability....I'm not looking to set a record :)

Each chip is different - there are no precise overclock settings.  AMD only guarantees that it will operate at the designated speed and no more.  You can check with other people and articles as to what they were able to accomplish, and it might give you an idea statistically of how attainable an overclock you can achieve.

It looks like 20% is easily reachable and 33% a good possibility.
