Question : Problem: Unknow CPU
|
|
I'm pulling together a new system, with an ASUS P5N-E SLI MB with a Core 2 Quad Q9300 chip
No boot the BOIS stops with an "unknow CPU' I can hit f1 and it load up fine.
Form what I can tell the BOIS need updating. Went to the ASUS web site only to have a number of updates http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
V0803 say it Support new CPU with a link to the list. http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5N-E%20SLI
Yet the Q9300 isn't on the list
Do I just use the latest V1002 and hope for the best??

The Q9300 isn't supported and I don't think Asus plans to add support for it. For support of the new quad core cpu's with an Nvidia chipset you'd need a board with a 750i, 780i or 790i chipset. Are the cpu's speeds read properly in bios?
